| Nā Kama: The Group
Chemistry is everything: from the music they play, to the energy they deliver through that music, and the relationship with the people they share their music with. This is the driving force that has kept Nā Kama going for over 10 years. As they blend classic and original Hawaiian compositions with a contemporary flair, Nā Kama continues to grow in today’s industry as one of Hawai‘i’s most promising and enduring entertainers of Hawaiian music.
In 2007, Nā Kama’s release, titled “Kamakolu”, was honored with the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award for Hawaiian Language Performance.
Nā Kama: The Boys
Brian Mersberg:
As the vocal nucleus of the band, Brian continues to amaze listeners with his “powerful notes” and range. Holding the music through rhythm, Brian is also knowledgeable in the arts of hula. As a student of Ka Pā Hula Hawai‘i, Brian continues to seek council from his kumu hula, Kaha‘i Topolinski from time to time to further his knowledge in Hawaiian dance and culture.
Dan Naipo:
With experience comes wisdom and Danny brings that and much more. Not only because of the musical lineage that is the Naipo ohana but also because of the extraordinary musicians that Danny has had the opportunity to perform and record with. Danny adds to the mixture and blend of Nā Kama’s magic with a witty humor and sincere heart whenever he shares his stories about his family, his band mates, and his home here in Hawai‘i.
Solo Pamatigan:
A quiet confidence is what Solo brings to Nā Kama. As its newest Member he adds the strength of vocals and harmony that has been a signature of Nā Kama for many years. As a student of the late Darrell Lupenui, Solo is also a gifted dancer that can wow the audiences and leave them wanting more, when the mood arises that is. Solo has become a perfect blend to this already well seasoned band.
Together, these three make up the guys that are Nā Kama and we expect nothing but great things from them in the very near future.
